Katarina (Katalin) Varga Smith founded and has been running “Katalin and all that jazz” since 1984. Now she is passing the torch.
We were asked to create a film celebrating everything Katalin has done for the live music scene in Uppsala (and Sweden). The film was shown at a farewell and tribute party at Katalin.
Let’s create something magical together.
The road to greatness
We wanted to tell a story of the everyday grind in the kitchen mixed up with magical music moments. To get up close and personal and tell Katalin’s story, from her perspective.
A star-studded production
We at Phosworks are music lovers and we worked on this project pro bono as a tribute to “Katalin”.
We asked Plura Johansson from the band Eldkvarn if he wanted to be the narrator for the film. Plura, who has played many times at Katalin, agreed immediately. Another musician and composer who often played at Katalin is Anders Widmark. He recorded the soundtrack to the film for us, live, in one live take.
Standing ovations and so much love
The film received standing ovations from the audience and guests, and the team behind the film received kisses and long hugs from a teary-eyed Katarina (Katalin) Varga Smith.
